Science tuition from a qualified science teacher who has taught in several schools.
Small-group online classes of up to 5 students, taught the way the best science lessons are taught in school: retrieval practice, constant checks for understanding, and plenty of guided practice. Students attend all three weekly classes: Biology on Fridays, Chemistry on Saturdays, Physics on Sundays.
Qualified teacher (QTS) · Classroom experience across several schools · Limited places per class
Small classes, taught properly
Students attend all three classes each week, covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics in full. Groups are capped at 5 so every student is seen, questioned and helped in every lesson.
Every student, every lesson
With only 5 places per class, no one hides at the back. I use a structured method on Zoom to check every single student's understanding, so misconceptions are caught and fixed before we move on and every student gets the help they need.
Retrieval-focused homework
Homework is set every week through dedicated software built around retrieval practice, so what's learned in class keeps being revisited between lessons and stays in long-term memory.
Progress you can see
Every topic in all three sciences ends with an end-of-topic test, and parents receive the score. You'll always know exactly how your child is doing.
How every lesson is taught
Every lesson follows the same evidence-based structure used in high-performing classrooms.
Do Now
Every lesson opens with retrieval practice on prior learning. Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve shows we lose most new knowledge within days unless we actively recall it — so we recall it, every single lesson.
Teacher input
New content taught in clear, carefully sequenced steps, with worked examples and precise explanations from a qualified teacher.
Check for understanding
Frequent checks on all 5 students to weed out misconceptions before they take root. We only move on when everyone understands.
Student practice
Extended independent practice: stretch and challenge for students who are flying, scaffolding for those who need it. This is where students do the thinking and the learning sticks.
Why this structure? Retrieval practice, checking for understanding and guided practice are among the most reliably effective teaching strategies in education research, and they underpin the best classroom teaching in the country.
What families say
Feedback from parents of current and former students.
"My son was in set 3 for science when he started with Zak. He's now been moved up to set 1 at school. His confidence has completely changed."
— Parent of a KS4 student
"After two years of classes with Zak, my son achieved a 9-9 in his GCSE science. We couldn't have asked for a better result."
— Parent of a GCSE student, 2 years of tuition
"My daughter loves Zak's teaching style. She never leaves a class without having understood the lesson."
